Win32.Banker
WS.Reputation.1
PAK_Generic.001
TROJ_GEN.F47V0811

Link here : www.virustotal.com/file/43d94061a48d63e7...analysis/1360147914/

is there a reason for this & is it safe to use.?

Hello BaRoN,

I am not familiar with VirusTotal, but I can assure you that I have not put any virus/malware/adware in LCDJ. I don't know why you would be getting any warnings. But I will go through each one and give you a break down of what I am able to find out:

Win32.Banker - This is almost certainly a false positive! A little research turned up that a number of developers are seeing this returned from eSafe. Something in eSafes signature detection system seems to cause this. I don't put much stock in what they "discover".

WS.Reputation.1 - This is a reputation warning from Symantec which is only based on what kind of "Reputation" a particular program has. Since LCDJ is relatively new and few people know about it, it hasn't had a chance to realy build a reputation. So, this is more or less a pointless warning from Symantec if you as me.

PAK_Generic.001 - Almost certainly a false positive! I did not put any such thing in LCDJ.

TROJ_GEN.F47V0811 - Almost certainly a false positive! I did not put any such thing in LCDJ.

So, why do I say "Almost"? Simply because I cannot see how any kind of virus could have gotten into my software short of my server having been hacked (which I have seen no evidence of).

Thank you for letting me know about this. I will try and contact those antivirus folks and ask them to explain what this is all about. Notice that the most reputable companies on that list found absolutely nothing. The ones that claimed to have found something, cannot even agree on what it is ... lol. I would be more worried if multiple scanners had found the same thing.

Update: I have contacted Symantec, eSafe (SafeNet), and Trend Micro to have LCDJ Whitelisted. I will update this thread when I receive confirmation from them.

Edit to add first response from Symantec:

Thank you for your request.

We have received your recent request to Symantec's Software White-list Request program. Complete requests with all necessary information will be processed immediately. Once a determination has been made regarding your request you will be notified via e-mail as to the decision made and the next steps, if any. For a Software White-list request, Symantec will target a response of advising you of our final determination within 3 weeks. This timeframe is subject to Symantec being supplied with all the necessary information to allow for a proper determination. Requests of incomplete information may result in a delay of the final determination. Any request for additional information regarding your submission will be sent to the contact email address you provided at the time of submission.

Sincerely,

Many thanks admin for your help and taking the time to try explain what the answer could be.
im guessing your right and its more of a false positive reading from them.
ive scanned all the files & folders with my AV (Kaspersky) & its not found anything at all so im quite happy with that.

thanks again.

Just received a reply from Symantec. Apparently I am not allowed to discuss their decision with regard to white-listing. All I can say is please let me know if LCDJ continues to show up with a warning from Symantec. I've checked it again myself and the warning from Symantec seems to be gone now.

Thanks.

Although they never did reply, it would seem that TrendMicro have taken care of the 2 false positives they were showing. Just eSafe (SafeNet) left to fix their issue. I did email them, but still have not heard back yet.

I will update here again as soon as I have any additional information.
